The clinical decision-makingmodel
One recipe does not fit all
Pain is a very personal event. No-one knows
the exact mix of biological processes that are
in action in any particular pain situation,
although these days we canmake sensible
predictions. If you have chosen a person to
helpwith yourmanagement, we hope that
person is an informed clinical decisionmaker.
Clinical decisionmaking is a vital science in
pain treatment. Your pain is so unique that a
‘recipe’ for treatment that is the same for all
pain situations will not do. Clinical decision
makers should be able tomake decisions based
on your particular presentation and on the
very best of science.
